Dane leads the post-COVID musical revival in Australia
After shifting his base from London to Brisbane in mid-2020, Dane has been honoured to conduct a series of “firsts” as Australia’s leading orchestras and opera companies return to the stage. In August, he conducted the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in Tanunda – the very first orchestral concert in Australia since the pandemic shutdown of 2020. He backed this up by leading the ASO back in the Adelaide Festival Theatre in September, followed by conducting the Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s first post-lockdown concerts in QPAC in the same month. In October he led Opera Queensland’s return to QPAC.
“It is a huge honour to be able to play a role in leading the musical institutions of my homeland in their return to make vital music for the people of Australia. It is my fervent hope that we can continue to build on the immediacy and intimacy of the live performance experience as we come out of this challenging period in our history. Australia’s musical institutions are certainly primed and ready for the challenge.” – Dane Lam
